Parrots are going to be an official feature in version 1.1 for Minecraft PE. Soon after it had been announced someone created a parrot addon and here we are releasing it. The textures are supposed to be very similar to what we will see in the official version. But the behaviors will likely be quite different seeing as right now it acts too similar to a bat (in the addon).

How does it work?
The parrot replaces the bat and you can use any of the four different resource packs to get a parrot of the color which you prefer. Here are all of them. Personally, I like the red one best!
You can tame a parrot by feeding it any type of seeds. A pet parrot automatically follows its owner, but it won’t protect him against any hostiles (which makes sense).
You can leash your tamed parrot with some lead and then tie it to a fence pole if you want to stop it from following you (and don’t want to kill it).
